  • 1.  Image Stepping When Increasing Scale

    Posted 09-20-2017 14:02
I'm working on a project where I have an image that scales up, slowly over about 400f. When it scales, there is a great deal of image stepping, almost like you can see the image resetting itself to the new scale. It's most apparent on white or very white shapes on the images. Ex: sun glare, white patches.

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this? I included a link here so you can see. On Image 1, it's on the facemask of his helmet and on Image 2 it takes place on the patch on the right of his chest.

Anyone have a solve on this? It's a pretty frustrating issue to solve

I have to be honest, I'm not seeing any issue in the video you've linked to, maybe because of its resolution, but if you're having aliasing problems the first place to check would be the aniti-aliasing settings for your setup. That's really just a blind stab, as at least from what's been presented, there really is no apparent problem.

I'm not sure I can see it either.
Are you scaling it with keyframes or a continuous animation?
Make sure you are using bezier or sinewave to make it smooth?
Are you seeing this in the virtual output, and SDI output or both?

Right now it is keyframed, but it also exited on continuous animation. It exists in the virtual output, my viewport, and when I rendered out the scene.

I included two screenshots of where you can see the stepping.

I appreciate you all taking a look. This would be a big winf for my team to get this solved

You're probably seeing effects of the mipmapping or texture filtering. There are options in the texture shader to adjust/disable the mip filtering and scaling filtering.
