  • 1.  OES scoreboard missing data

    Posted 05-11-2017 04:16
We are switching over from an old system to Ross Xpression in a stadium environment for football. We have an OES scoreboard sending data over datalinq. Seems like we are missing a few bits of data that we used to have access to on the old system. For example, There is a value on OES that shows which side of the field the ball is on, home or away (different from possession values). I set up an OES Datalinq in Xpression. Most values are working fine, except those couple of missing values.... Any ideas?

    Thanks!

We just contacted OES and they confirmed to us that "the side of the field the ball is on" is not contained in the protocol. If you work for the stadium, you may want to contact the scoreboard vendor (OES) directly and see if you can get any different info than what they sent us. Without that info in the protocol there isn't much we can do to generate it.

Sorry Brian, I phrased that question really badly.

One issue that is coming up is, whenever we go into triple digits for score, it shows a really strange character. When we compare our datalinq configurations to the old one, they seem exactly the same, but the old system was able to show those triple digits

The OES football protocol only supports two digit scores. Perhaps you could contact me off the forum and we can set up an email between you, us, and OES.. It's not clear to me how any other system receiving the same OES data could have done anything different than XPression. The data we receive from OES does not contain either the data for which side of the field the ball is on, nor a third digit for score. If you could capture some of the data when you have three digit scores we could analyze it to see what it is showing and how it compares to the OES specification. There is an option in the datalinq server to log the data to a file (as either ASCII or Hex or both). The log file is located in the datalinq servers progam file folder. Could you capture that and send it to us? Which site is this; perhaps it is not using the standard OES protocol and it had some custom OES implementation?

Hi Brian, I work with the original poster on this site and on this issue. I was able to log some data from OES today and will send you a PM with the file and details.

OES appears to have made some modifications to their protocol to allow three digit scores. We will implement this and make a patch available.
