  • 1.  Audio tone choppy from virtual input test pattern

    Posted 05-17-2017 21:21
I'm using Designer to set up a project where I can route a live video source into Xpression. I've set up a virtual input and used the test pattern with tone, then applied that to a quad. When I load the scene into the sequencer and play out of my virtual output, the audio tone is super choppy almost like it's an on / off tone. I pulled my own tone and a random audio file into the scene for testing and they sound fine. Is the audio quality bad just because I'm going virtual in to virtual out or are there other settings i should fiddle with?

    thanks!

It's a good question, and while I'm no authority on the matter, it does seem like the virtual I/O might be having some buffering issues. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

I run Designer on a mac using a PC emulator so I have always accepted issues. Can you load this scene on the Xpression Studio machine and test it there?

I was just creating a new project and I wanted to test the virtual input as well and I came across this same issue.

However I did notice that when you use a Virtual Input, the colorbars are being generated at 29.97fps

while my project is set to 25fps.

I couldn't find a way to change the framerate of the virtual input so it would match the projects framerate.

Could this be the reason why the audio is choppy?

If I play a scene that contains a video with audio, that audio is fine.

I'm also on my laptop using a Studio v10 build 5201.

    Best regards,

    Kenneth
