  • 1.  'opaque' material not 100% opaque

    Posted 10-13-2015 16:52
I have a material that SHOULD be 100% opaque. However when it is put on line there is a slight ghosting of the BG. I was given advice to put a second layer above the layer that holds the photoshop file in the material but that hasn't fixed it. Any suggestions? If I use xpression material the layer is opaque, but not with the photoshop files. I have tried to put a second quad with xpression black material behind the quad in question but as soon as I put the photoshop layer on, it goes slightly transparent. Any suggestions?

Have you tried using PNGs instead of PSDs? I've noticed there is a slight glow around the edges of PSDs when brought into sequence. Wondering if PSDs and their color modes may have anything to do with it.

I usually use .png files. I tried .psd with and without a separate alpha channel. I've tried jpg. I've tried laying multiple levels of the same material. I've tried a second quad with xpression black. It's a pretty simple gradient, so I think it would be easiest to just duplicate that gradient using xpression tools instead of photoshop. Thanks for the suggestion Hunter.

    Hi Malcolm,

This is another case where it would be easier if we could see the scene/images you are referring to.. Could you post a link?

Brian, not to over simplify but its basically one quad, with one png material (opacity 100%) on that quad. But unless you key it on our Ross switcher you can't see the issue. But I will set up a link. We have open scrimmage tonight otherwise I would get it posted today. Thanks
