  • 1.  Playing LIVE Video as an INPUT to XP DESIGN (NOT Studio)

    Posted 03-30-2015 14:37
We have 2 seats of XP Design on PC's.

Is there a way where anyone has set up playing live video IN to the Design Box or playing back a movie from the drive so as to use this as the "video element" that will sit in the design itself.

At the end of the day that video will be the live SDI feed in to the XP Studio machine.

    Thank you.

You can add a Virtual Input to the hardware setup of the XPression designer. This allows you to use a fake virtual input material which when you load the project on a real studio box will be replaced by the real SDI input. You can't choose to use a local video file however; the virtual input will either be black or color bars.

    Brian,

    Thank you for the info.

It sound as if my next two questions are answered by you already....

Is there a way to "simulate" INPUT LIVE video on a Design Seat of Xpression?

I must say, I never thought to ask this. It's a good question from Cassie.

Is there a way to do it where you could use Any type of input we could set up hardware wise? A simple BM Decklink card, etc.?

Is there a way we could play a movie file from the Design machine hardware and it thinks of it as a Live Feed?

You say to add a virtual input to the hardware setup of XP designer. When doing this the input will either be black or color bars ONLY. Basically a test signal. When this then is replaced by the Studio box as the SDI input...

What then are the steps in this replacement process?

Thank you for the guidance and help.
