Can anyone let me know how I can export a scene from Xpression to a video codec with alpha channel that adobe premier will import with alpha channel?

In the sequencer, right click and "Export Take Item To", Video. Fill parameters, and for codec, use "Xpression Video Codec vX.X".

Import the file, and "Tadam !".

PS : If Xpression is not installed on the computer with Adobe Premiere, you can only install the codec on it.

Where can I get the codec you are referring to? I also forgot to mention the Adobe premier CC would be on a Mac computer. Will the export and codec work on mac?

On mac... So no, you can't...

But you can export a to a sequence of png or tga...

Right click and "Export Take Item To", Image. And in format, choose what you want (I prefer png)...

Look for a program called "Wonder Share" on mac platform. This might be what you are looking for.

You might try Adobe Media Encoder. I've never used it, but have seen posts of people using it.

I have figured it out, in case anyone else needs this in the future. Here's what I did.

    - Exported scene to images>png sequence

    - On mac, opened up Quicktime 7 then file>open image sequence

    - Selected first png of the sequence>open

    - Save as>Quicktime .mov

This method preserved the alpha channels and converted .png sequence to a quicktime .mov that opens up in Adobe Premier CC for mac. Allowing me to add XPression Lower thirds in to edits in post production.

    Thanks all for you help...

Why not to import png directly to premiere ?

Importing the .png sequence created a ton on small clips on my timeline. And the animation was very slow for some reason. But it worked perfectly when I converted the .png to a .mov file.

If you import the .png into Premiere it makes a slow animation because each .png file is around 30 frames instead of 1 to make a smooth animation.

YOU CAN do this directly into premiere instead of Quicktime by doing this:

    - Open Premiere

    - File, Import

    - Go to your folder where your .png's are located

    - Click the first .png

    - Enable "Image Sequence" by checking the box

    - Import
