• 1.  "Scene Director Trigger" explanation please?

I'm currently working on a simple clock for soccer.
And as you might know, after 45 and 90 min there is a "+ XX min" sign up there showing how much overtime is expected.

Now, I put that little clock thingy in a different scene, and our students call on this when needed (and they know the expected OT).

However, when the match is done, and we want to take the clock offline, I was hoping to put a trigger in the Scene Director of the OUT for the clock, that also runs the OUT of the little extra time scene. I though this little trigger thingy would help me with that, but I cant seem to get any effect what so ever from this trigger thingy in the scene director.

So if anyone could explain, or link me to an Xpression U video with an example of this (couldnt find one where this is used yet), I would greatly appreciate it!

Xpression version: v6.5 build 3672

UPDATE: As for testing purposes. I have no problem triggering a second scene director within the same scene. However, triggering a scene director in another scene that is also online, that just wont happen.

Another point. I'm trying to find a reasonable way for our students to do this. And while I am sure I can both find a way to trigger a "take offline" and similar sollutions from scripting, but next to none of our students have learned coding and/or scripting. So if this trigger could work that would be great...

And yes, I am aware of this:
Trigger Event Properties
Use the Trigger Event Properties dialog box to edit and configure a Scene Director Trigger from the selected track that will trigger a scene director in other on-air scenes to play.
A scene with a new Scene Director must be sent to an output in order to be triggered.
Properties
Use this section to configure the properties of the Scene Director Trigger.
Trigger in this scene only "” select this check box to look for scene directors in the current scene only.
Scene Name "” use this box to enter the name of the scene with the Scene Director to trigger in other on-air scenes.
Scene Director "” use this box to enter the name of the Scene Director to trigger from the scene.
Action "” select an action for the Scene Director when triggered:
Play "” playout the tracks in the Scene Director.
Pause "” pause the tracks in the Scene Director.
Stop "” stop the tracks in the Scene Director.
Play Range "” select this to set a play range in frames for the playout. Use the boxes to enter or select the play range in frames.
Framebuffer "” use this list to select the framebuffer upon which to search for a scene which matches the scene name provided.
Execute when activated from play direction "” select one of the following options:
Left & Right "” select this option to trigger the Scene Director when the play direction of the track is moving forward or in reverse.
Left "” select this option to trigger the Scene Director when the play direction of the track is moving forward only.
Right "” select this option to trigger the Scene Director when the play direction of the track is moving in reverse only.
OK "” click to apply the changes and close the dialog box.
Cancel "” click to close the dialog box without applying changes.

I have followed the help description to the letter, but I cannot make the scene react...

Here is an example on one scene director triggering one in a different scene. Play these back from the sequencer.

The most likely error is spelling, make sure your scene name and scene director name are 100% accurate including no miscellaneous spaces. The easiest way to avoid this is to copy and paste names from both respectively.

@bford @redmile So... I basically just made the entire thing from scratch again. And left out all spaces etc in the naming.
It now works. I basically just did the exact same thing, but with no spaces. So I guess Xpression is no fan of spaces in names etc... Noted for later!

Thanks though for pointing me in the right direction. At least I understood the general basics of the trigger...

Hey astalsberg, spaces are ok but you have to make sure you have them accurately as XPressions seems them as a character just the same as any other cwhereas where as of course as humans we don't see them so it's easy to have 2 where you should have 1 or accidentally have 1 at the end or beginning without realising. When scripting or using scene triggers I tend to avoid them and use _underscore instead just to make my life easier.
