    Hi all,

Lately I'm receiving quite a few requests from broadcasters that want to me connect to a scoreboard for a variety of different sports, ranging from basketball to volleyball, indoor soccer and handball. All of which are fast played sports for which such an interface is definitely useful.

I have been looking onto the internet to see where I could find these kind of interfaces but without much luck. I see Daktronics popping up quite often and I know that there's a sort of integration with it using the Datalinq, but I wouldn't even know how to hook it up. Furthermore I think there are a lot of different systems.

Anybody knows a sort of interface that allows you to connect to various systems and that can get you the information from the scoreboard?

    Best regards,

    Kenneth

    Hi Kenneth,

XPression (using Datalinq) can receive data directly from the scoreboard (usually using either Serial or UDP). XPression supports several scoreboard types, Daktronics, OES, and WhiteWay. Every sport has it's own protocol, so Football will have a different protocol than Basketball for example. Not all sports are supported by all XPression scoreboard datalinqs.

These protocols usually provide all realtime data such as Game Clock, Scores, Timeouts Remaining, etc. but do not contain more detailed information like Player/Team statistics etc.

These datalinq interfaces allow customers to create graphics that interface directly to the scoreboard to update the clocks and scores.

In addition, many 3rd parties that write Score Bug type API applications will connect directly to the scoreboards themselves to parse all the data and then they send it to XPression using the API. This does not require Datalinq.

If you want the protocols for the various scoreboards, you'll need to contact the scoreboard manufacturers directly.

    ScoreOCR

You supply a Windows 7 64bit OS computer with a mid - top line I7 processor, with a native USB 3.0 port and a BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 and with a serial port to send data to the XPression
