Hi Kenneth,
XPression (using Datalinq) can receive data directly from the scoreboard (usually using either Serial or UDP). XPression supports several scoreboard types, Daktronics, OES, and WhiteWay. Every sport has it's own protocol, so Football will have a different protocol than Basketball for example. Not all sports are supported by all XPression scoreboard datalinqs.
These protocols usually provide all realtime data such as Game Clock, Scores, Timeouts Remaining, etc. but do not contain more detailed information like Player/Team statistics etc.
These datalinq interfaces allow customers to create graphics that interface directly to the scoreboard to update the clocks and scores.
In addition, many 3rd parties that write Score Bug type API applications will connect directly to the scoreboards themselves to parse all the data and then they send it to XPression using the API. This does not require Datalinq.
If you want the protocols for the various scoreboards, you'll need to contact the scoreboard manufacturers directly.
