I am hoping to find the best way to approach creating reflections for 3D objects. We want to use 3D objects that often animate up & down through the studio floor. A simple animation up through a masked floor is simple, but due to the reflective nature of studio floors, we also would like to have a reflection that corresponds to the objects. I have worked for some time trying to create the effect we are looking for, only to get to where I think I have something figured out, then it doesn't work.
I have approached this 3 different ways, and have not had success yet, so hoping for some guidance:
1- I created a render view within the same scene, which inverted the 3D logo and the animation applied to it. This gave me exactly what I wanted when I scrubbed the scene director within my editor window- the object & its reflection animated in perfectly; BUT, when I dropped the scene into the sequencer, the reflections are not there.
2- I created two additional perspective cameras within the same scene, moved them far off the main view, built two separate scenes in that far off space for the top & bottom images I wanted for main logo & its reflection, then applied those camera views to two render view materials that lived on the main scene view. I built scene directors that animated the logo & reflection scenes being pushed to the render view materials. Again, in my main view in the editor I get exactly what I want in terms of look and animation, but when dropped in the sequencer, while I now would see both a main logo & reflection, I get no animation.
3- I created two separate scenes to comprise the top logo & reflection, built scene directors for each of those scenes to animate them. Then in a third scene, I again created render view materials that pointed to those two other scenes for the logo & reflection. I again get the image I want in my main view on the editor, but with this setup I can't get any animation of those render view items. I found a post in the community that said you should be able to drag render view materials you are using from other scenes onto a scene director to trigger the animations for those render view materials; but that doesn't seem to work for me (and of course there is a good chance I'm just not doing it correctly).
So sorry for the long post, I hope in some way it makes sense in terms of what I've done. I have to think there is a sound solution for getting this look for reflections given how much AR & 3D stuff is now being done.
Thank you.
