    Hello,

This is my first time setting up datalinq. I know we do have the Datalinq server available and I watched some videos in Xpression U.
I'm stuck on the first step where it tests connection. The message coming up reads: Failure: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.

Any ideas of how I can fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

Which datalinq type are you trying to configure? Sounds like maybe you are using XLSX files and the ADODB datalinq? I would recommend using the XLS option instead (it's called "Excel Mixed Numeric/Text Data" in the list). This uses the JET OLEDB that should be installed by default on all windows 7 machines.
The XLSX requires installing extra drivers and those drivers do not seem as stable as the JET / XLS driver.

    Hi Brian,

These are the only options I see. I tried using ADODB DataLinq Source like the video in Xpression U showed.
Couldn't find the one you mentioned in the list. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

    Best,
    Mildred

The screenshots you posted are not showing up. Can you try uploading them again?

The options I was referring to are inside the ADODB datalinq configuration page. After you hit "Select Template" button.

Can you post a screenshot of the error you are getting and the configuration settings you put in the ADODB configuration.

Here is the error. I feel like I've tried everything but can't get it to work.

When you click "Select Template", choose this option "Excel Mixed Numeric/Text Data" instead of the XLSX option.

It should look like this.. You should remove the square brackets around the filename.

Thanks so much! I got it working now.
I should've noticed the brackets but I think what the real problem was that I was using .xlsx instead of .xls

    Hi Brian,

So i've got my datalinq/excel sheet working. Is there any way to make my template in Xpression update as soon as I save changes in my spreadsheet? Right now, preview will only update if I go back and forth in between scenes or if I hit take again and again when I have it played out. I do have the Live update box checked.
