I've had a lot of questions / issues regarding XLSX formatted spreadsheets recently, but here's what normally seems to work:

Download both the 32-bit and 64-bit drivers from this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=54920

The issue seems to be XPression wanting the 32-bit version to be installed, and in some cases Office is preventing that.  To get around this issue:

If Office 365 is already installed, side by side detection will prevent the installation from proceeding. Instead perform a /quiet install of these components from command line. To do so, download the desired AccessDatabaseEngine.exe or AccessDatabaeEngine_x64.exe to your PC, open an administrative command prompt, and provide the installation path and switch Ex: C:\Files\AccessDatabaseEngine.exe /quiet

What are the issues that this could solve?

I had a few odd things happen using a .xlsx and datalinq, and I'm wondering if this might help me.

This was mainly to correct an issue where when testing the connection to the spreadsheets, it would fail with a driver warning message.  Be aware that there is a build of 8.5 that was buggy as well with regards to xlsx spreadsheets.  Support is aware (I don't know what build it was), and newer builds of 8.5 corrected the issue.

If using 8.5 and Excel/Adodb, you should use at least version 8.5 build 4583.
