  • 1.  Centering Text Vertically

    Posted 10-11-2012 00:30
Does anyone have a solution for centering text vertically. For example, I have a scene that allows a producer to put a quote in. If the quote is really short, I'd like it to be centered within a certain area. If the quote is longer I'd like it to expand up and down, leaving the center of all the lines in the center of the specified area.

I saw a post from a few months back but there was no final solution.

    Thanks!

For that, I use a script of wordwrap, in wich I count the number of line and force position in Y in different case...

I'm hoping that Centering Text Vertically was addressed in 4.0, so you don't need code.

David, contact me off list and I'll give you a few scripts i use for text centering.

Hi Bibek, what exactly are you trying to do, centre your text in the middle of the screen or in the middle of a quad?  The post you have commented on is 2012, XPression has come a long way since then.
It also depends which edition of XPression you have whether or not you have scripting.
You could try this visual logic (I used 540 as the centre but it could be any value) , you'll have to adjust the Y pivot point to the top of the bounding box and if you want the  text centred vertically as well adjust the X pivot too. If it's the centre of a quad you could use the same VL but instead of a value calculate the centre position by using quad position - (quad height/2)
There may be other, better ways (and I'm sure they will be added) but give this a go and see if it works for you.
