I've been tasked making a lower 3rd that auto scales to the text, however they want to set a minimum width for the slab.

So that lets say if the text is less than 15 characters the slab, the background of the lower 3rd, wont scale down any further. However if the text has more than 15 characters, it will then start scaling the width to the text normally.

I've tried playing with the visual logic of the scene, however i haven't succeeded.

what if you used a mask position tied to the bounding box of the text that would reveal the BG rather than scaling it? Even at 0 width you could offset the position of the the mask.
