I feel like this should be easier so figure I must be overlooking something. I've watched videos and searched the forums, but I'm not finding the answer. We have several local productions that need credit scrolls. My plan was to build a scene with a bottom-to-top animation and a copyright date widget, copy/paste that scene to the other projects, and simply point each one to its own TXT file so anyone can edit names. This has proved difficult.
First, tried Datalinq, but that only loaded one field, not the entire text document.
Then in Sequencer, I did a right-click on the scene and did "import text from template". That created a new group I could set to scroll. So, yes, it worked, but it's not very hands-off for the producers. They can't just add the scene to Sequencer, take it, and it plays. Trust me, they need that.
Then in Sequencer, I did a copy/paste from the text file into the Entry field. Again, worked, but not hands-off. Extra steps and doesn't automatically incorporate changes.
There has to be a simple, hands-off way to do this, right? Where the producers can simply take the scene in Sequencer with no editing on their part, and it plays properly with the latest version of the external text file. One button, no interaction on their part?
