Hello, I've been using XPression for a couple of months now and have been compiling a list of things I'd like to see that would make things easier and/or more robust (in my opinion anyway). Some of these may have been noted elsewhere, but it appears we're all looking for the same things. I am coming from the VizRT world, so some of these exist in that world.
Masking
More control of what is masked - more "local" (or group) control of what is getting masked rather than everything that is below the mask layer. Additionally the ability to use a quad or other primitive as a mask in addition to an image
Text Controls/Animations
I saw this in another post so I'm including it here; character-by-character animations, etc
Autofollow
This is a VizRT function that allows one object (text, quads, etc) to follow another object. My example would be a quad material "end cap" following a text object
OBJECT MANAGER
Object (Scene tree)
Method to identify objects that contain a script (color coding, "s" near container name, etc)
Ability for parent objects to hide their child(ren); currently items in a "group" hide everything when the group is turned off, but a text layer with children will only turn off the text layer
Transform Tab
Ability to reset positions to a default value.
0.0 (rotation, scale, pivot), 1.0 (scale)
Published Object Order
Method to arrange objects more quickly; ie: Move to Top, Move to Bottom, ability to manually enter ID order value, drag & drop and/or cut/paste for groups of objects
OBJECT LIBRARY
Base Objects
-Addition of additional primitives (such as a circle) and maybe a polygon tool where a shape can be drawn "freehand" or use imported paths from an Illustrator file
-Ability to open up the cylinder object - adjust the radius from 0 to 360
MATERIAL MANAGER
Material editing / Texture 2D: Info about what the various parameters do:
Color blending - blend modes, stage modifiers, output modifiers
Alpha blending - blend modes, stage modifiers, output modifiers
PROJECT MANAGER
Ability to multi-select and drag scenes (up) from the Scene Manager to the Project Manager area or a right-click menu per scene that allows a category assignment.
That's all I could think of at the moment. I know there's plenty more...including more script examples and documentation.
