  • 1.  have an output "look at" a region within a scene?

    Hi everyone,

Is it possible to have a custom size scene, let's say 3840x1080, and utilize two 1920x1080 SDI outputs to look at two different regions within that scene? I'm assuming this is exactly what Tessera does, but I'm wondering if it can be done within a single Xpression box without additional hardware, software or licensing.

    Thanks!

    Hi Vincent,

In XPression you can use a Tile Mapper which does exactly that you are referring to. So when you have a 3840x1080 scene, you can create a Tile Mapper that has two 1920x1080 outputs side by side.

The Tile Mapper becomes a new FrameBuffer in the interface so you can put a scene on that output and the scene will be split over the two outputs.

You can configure the Tile Mapper through EDIT > HARDWARE SETUP > INPUTS / OUTPUTS > ADD > XPRESSION TILE MAPPER.

Then you specify the layout you need and you assign the outputs to the corresponding frames and you're done.

However, I would like to make a small remark.

If you have a 3840x1080-scene and you only need a 500x500 square that you want to render on a specific output, then you will need Tessera. The Tile Mapper only works with native video resolutions such as HD or SD.

And be aware that the number of outputs might be limited to your XPression version. So if you want a quadsplit, but you only have three outputs, it won't work...

    Best regards,

    Kenneth
