Hoping someone can help me with some visual logic. I actually got my logic to work in the Layout, but when I bring it into the Sequencer it doesn't. I've attached a screengrab of the portion in question.

The part that doesn't work is the 2 Line Headline visibility. What I'm trying to do is have certain text layers visible depending on how many characters are in the Top Line text, or if there's any text at all in the bottom line.

So, when the Top Line gets above 40 characters, its' supposed to show the 2 Line Headline.

Like I said, it works in the Layout, but not the Sequencer.

    Thanks!

Hi Dave, You'll need to upload the full scene.. This is next to impossible to help without seeing what could be wrong in the scene as well.

The file for my scene is at the attached link.

You'll notice that if you are in Layout mode and type in the Top Line text layer, that after 40 characters it changes from the Top One Line as being visible to the 2 Line Headline being visible. In Sequence mode, this change never happens, and the Top One Line doesn't show any more than 40 characters.

I'd also love to figure out a way to hide the Top One Line and the 2 Line Headline if a bottom line is present. As of right now, if you add a bottom line, it shows the bottom line, and the orange bar, and the Top Line, but if that top line is more than 40 characters it will still show the 2 Line Headline.

Thanks so much for your help @bford !!

You have an OnSetText script on "Top Line" that truncates the text to 40 characters. That is why it is not working in sequencer mode. The OnSetText script only runs in Sequence Mode when the Template Data text is assigned to the text object.

Also, you should drag the "2 Line Headline Position" visual logic tab to be after the "One or Two Lines" tab in the visual logic editor. You need the 2 line position to be calculated after you assign the text to it.. The visual logic tabs are executed in order from left to right.

D'oh! I was copying that text layer from my original graphics and totally forgot about it. You're awesome, thank you!

Moving the "2 Line Headline Position" visual logic tab after the "One or Two Lines" fixed my next question, which was that in the preview the 2 Line Headline is too far down. Thank you for that. I didn't think about it that they were executed in an order, just that they were executed. What if I had them all in one tab? Would that affect it? Is it better to have tabs for different events?

Do you think you might be able to help with my other problem regarding hiding the Top One Line and 2 Line Headline if a Bottom Line is present?

Thank you so much, you are always a great help!

Never mind @bford ... I figured it out... Just needed another And function block and to make the 2 Line Headline visibility dependent on the Top Line being Greater than 40 AND the bottom line EQUAL TO 0.

    Thanks!
