  • 1.  Line breaks in a tab delimited text file

    Posted 10-31-2018 17:07

I'm using a an excel file saved as a Tab delimited file to feed my datalinq as a Text file source. The tab part is working but I have text strings of address that I would like use in one field with line breaks to instert a new line. I've tried {\n}, vbCrLf,
    in a line like this

    "Suite 209, 1 Rossland Rd. WvbCrLfAjax, ONvbCrLfL1Z 1Z2"
nothing is working to create a line break so that it looks like this

    Suite 209, 1 Rossland Rd. W
    Ajax, ON
    L1Z 1Z2

    all within one text object.
    What am I missing?

    Hello TLohan,

I've made a test with this configuration in Datalinq Server :

    text : "Suite 209, 1 Rossland Rd. W\CrLfAjax, ON\CrLfL1Z 1Z2" is working (notice \CrLf instead of vbCrLf )

If you change new line configuration to be "Break Tag
    "
then text has to be : "Suite 209, 1 Rossland Rd. W
    Ajax, ON
    L1Z 1Z2"

    Regards.

Thanks Amignon... unfortunately it isn't working. I think the problem is that as soon as you put it into a column.. which is what I have... the breaks stop working... My tab or comma delimited file is sending the colums to the specified fields but that last one with the address isn't recognizing any of the coding for line breaks. as soon as I do it as a single column the line breaks work. I'm gonna have to get creative... Thanks for trying. At least I know the breaks will work in simpler documents.
