Usually in file manager of Windows OS or any other OS when you are clicking and draginging one file, the file is moved from first location into the second location.
When you are combine this with CTRL key, a plus "+" sign appear near the mouse arrow and instead of MOVE it makes a COPY and duplicate the item.
In XPression should be the same when you are managing the take items in Sequence.
The "+" sign appear near the mouse arrow, but it allways MOVE the item, no metter if the CTRL key is pressed or not.
Why it doesn't work?
