My most favorite and anticipated feature has been added to Datalinq. I am curious of a few things.

    1. Can you do requests like you can with Dak software to pull individual player stats (Show Control, Venus)? I am guessing the answer is no, but maybe I am wrong.

    2. I am trying to end the struggle of Stat Crew XML syncing for Basketball. Using the DSTI SC BB scoreboard itf.

What I would love to be able to do is click on a player Lower 3rd, and have Points, Assists, Rebounds, etc for that player using Dak RTD ITF. Where the problem comes in is how the ITF is laid out. Players will switch positions all the time. Ex. When I player is in the game he occupies positions 1-5. When he is out of the game he would be position 6-15. Would a Datalink Key be the way to do this? It would need to find the Name of Player, then populate all stats associated with that player name regardless of what player number he is in. Whats probably going to be tricky is if there is more then One Smith playing.

    Any input would be great!

Couldn't you just do it by Jersey number? Forgive me if I have oversimplified this.

What type of Dak Software do you use for stats. If it comes from an All-Sport, you wouldn't really be able to do this with Dak. If you have DakStats Basketball (or whatever sport you use this for), you have to have Daktronics provide you with the licenses for certain data like this to be sent out to something like XPression (which costs a lot more money). Usually with DakStats, they send out a feed like HomeGameSeason which provides player data by Jersey number, not position. I'm not sure exactly if RTD works like this though.

This would be for NCAA Basketball, so I would be pulling data from StatCrew. Which as some people know can be very tough to keep updated in Xpression. I do have a command line setup with WinSCP right now to go out and pull that XML file every 2 seconds or so from a remote FTP. We are an off campus site for the basketball team, so we are not on the same network. If we were this would probably be a much simpler process.

@malthepal often times I miss the over simplified way to do things. So by no means apologize!

I will have to play around with the feature after hockey gets started and see what I am able to pull. Thanks everyone!
