Hello,
For the second time now I've had an issue with the usb-dongle of Xpression.
I was using it to prepare some items when the application didn't respond anymore. The only thing what I could do was terminate the software using the task manager.
No big deal, it's one of the downsides of using Windows as the desired platform.
Normally when you reboot the software, you can continue where you left off.
However, for the second time in a number of months, when I rebooted Xpression, it didn't found my dongle and I got the message, no valid hardware key found, eventhough my dongle did not move.
I've tried rebooting the entire system, taking the power off, putting the dongle in another usb-port, etc... But none of those methods worked.
The first time I had this, several months ago, I tested the dongle on my laptop which also has Xpression on it and there it didn't work either so I thought my dongle was broken. I returned it to the dealer and when they tested it, it worked fine. Afterwards when I tried again on my Xpression, it worked again.
So with that in mind, today, we've put the dongle in another pc, and afterwards put it back in the Xpression-machine and it worked again.
So it seems that in some cases, when Xpression crashes, something is changed in the usb-dongle which makes that the system doesn't recognize it as a dongle anymore. When you put it in another pc, it gets reset or something which makes it useable again in the Xpression-hardware.
So once you know it it's a quite easy fix but it takes some time and there's no guarantee that it will work.
Up until now, it always happed during preparationdays but imagine that this happens when you're live on air.
Anybody else has had these same issues? If so, I would like to know how your solution.
Kind regards,
Kenneth De Buck
