  • 1.  RossTalk with Elgato Stream Deck

Trying to set up our Elgato Stream Deck XL to work with our XPression using Ross Talk.

I set it up as they did in the Ross U video and am having no luck having it communicate with anything XPression.  It does the commands to the overall system as you would expect (recording macros like Alt+Tab, for example), but when adding the RossTalk command and setting everything up - even a simple up/down command doesn't produce results.

Ideally I want this to work with our main XPN machine (Windows 7).  Because Stream Deck requires Windows 10, I currently have it housed on our CG XPN (Windows 10).  I wondered if talking to a W7 machine was the cause, but it gives the same result when trying to RossTalk with the localhost on the CG XPN.

Per the port, using the default 7788 as the XPN listening port and the outgoing port for the RossTalk commands from StreamDeck.

    Running the following versions:

    XPN: Windows 7, XPression Studio v9.5 build 4978 (64-bit)

XPN CG: Windows 10, XPression Studio v9.5 build 4978 (64-bit)

    StreamDeck:  v4.8.1

    xpnStreamDeck plugin: xpStreamdeck-9.5_4978

Hey Zach- I believe there was an issue with StreamDeck software beginning in v4.6.1 that was fixed with xpnStreamDeck plugin 9.7. So, first I'd try upgrading the xpnStreamDeck plugin. Otherwise you can try downgrading Streamdeck itself to v4.5

This is a bit off topic, but I am curious why you are keeping your main Xpression computer on Windows 7.

    Thanks, Bo.

I heard back from Ross Tech Support and they sent a newer version of the SD plugin - everything talking as expected now.

David - it was on the agenda this spring but, COVID happened ... now don't want to poke the bear this close to production!  Off-season priority, for sure.
