  • 1.  Parameters for videos coming through the XP Video Coder?

    Posted 03-16-2021 16:25

I have a file in both .mov and .avi formats rendered in After Effects on a Mac that I'm trying to run through the Video Coder.  When I try to import it as a new job, I get an error message and a blank image is brought into my source window.  In the New Job dropdown where you select your source, under All Supported Media Files it gives a list that does not include .mov files, which I thought were useable.  What are the rules for getting videos into the Video Coder?  What format do they need to be in before coming into the Coder?  Does PC vs. Mac matter?  Thank you!

    Hi Jessie,

Video coder only sees codecs that are installed on its local machine. For example, you would have to install Quicktime (only need the Essentials option after you run the installer) to use .mov files that use an Apple codec (i.e. Animation 4444) since Quicktime would install those codecs.
The containers don't matter for the most part (.avi etc.) What codec are you using when exporting from AE?
