    Hi all,
I have been using Google Sheets for live data integration for multiple years and it has worked flawlessly. For some reason these links don't seem to work anymore. Is there an updated RSS feed URL i need to be using?

    Hi Matt
Google changed their API from v3 to v4 last August. It made a headache for a lot of us!
There are ways to get at the data, but it's not as nicely formatted as before. ie you can now get a json file that presents the data as a list of either columns or rows, but not the actual field names like before. (There is a way, but it's complicated)
Unless you need the realtime capability of GoogleSheets, i'd just download it as an Excel file and use it that way - that's what I did.
If you lookup migration of Google API from v3 to v4, there's information on how to access GoogleSheets using this new API.

I also in the past (as Simon said, it was not easy, nor fun).  I was able to bring in a google sheet into excel as external data, then I had to manually refresh excel external data and the google sheet came through just fine.  I probably pushed refresh 600 times across the course of the event, but it worked. - There was something about downloading the file through chrome then going to the downloads page and right clicking the download and getting the source link to that download.  Then taking that into excel, and it would populate for me, and then it would update and save every time I hit the keyboard combinations.

There has to be a cleaner easier way, but it worked for what we needed.  Fencing tournament that was happening on 8 different mats all at the same time.  Did local google sheets at each mat and then made a bunch of tabs in excel and we went that way.

The most foolproof way of using Google Sheets in Datalinq is to use the CDATA Google Sheets ODBC Driver. This driver makes all your google sheets accessible to Datalinq via ODBC. Which means Google sheets will appear as a database source in Datalinq. This gives you a stable connection to Google Sheets and allows you to query Google Sheets as if they were a database. However this driver is not free.

Attached to this post is an appnote describing how to use the CDATA ODBC plugin with Google sheets and XPression Datalinq.

Hi Garner! Is this CDATA option only available on v11.5? Or can I use this with v10 or v11?

Hi Joshua! XPression version 11.5 has native support for Google Sheets, you would not need CDATA.

I expect the CDATA solution to work quite far back with XPression versions. Probably as far back as version 5.0.

Certainly it would work with XPression 8.0 and above.
