    Hi All..
I've been reading and watching videos on how to stream from Xpression to Dashboard for a sports scoring solution. Further to that can someone help me with how to increment the score and start/stop/reset a clock widget in Xpression from Dashboard. I've been asked if I can make this happen for an event and need to create a custom panel where another operator can score the game plus start, stop, reset the time clock.

    Thanks Andrew.

    You need 3 parameters...

    • One to hold the timer
    • One to hold the home-team score
    • One to hold the visiting-team score
Then you need a + and - button for each score (so 4 buttons).
Then you need a "start", "stop" and "reset" button for the time in the first parameter.

Just curious... What sport are we talking about?

There are two different methods you could be talking about here.

1: Creating a clock widget in XPression and controlling it from DashBoard.

2: Creating a clock widget in DashBoard, and, streaming its data over to Xpression.

astalsberg is referring to Method 2.

If you happen to be looking at method 1 you will have to:
-Send GPI messages from DashBoard to XPression.
-In XPressoin, create macros that implement the features you want.
-In Xpression map receiving that GPI into the macro.

From an earlier Post by James on how to do this:
"The easiest way would be to go into XPression's Keyboard/GPI Mapping and, at the same action you would use to assign a keyboard shortcut, also edit the GPI assignment to add a RossTalk/SmartGPI number. You would also add a RossTalk/SmartGPI port under Hardware Setup -> GPI Boards.

You can then use the "GPI" command in Visual Logic to send the GPI number you assigned to the XPression."

Thanks Troy. I'm looking at method 1. That info is great. I will get to work and see how I go.
    Cheers

So... I find myself in the same situation now, and I wanna try out method 1.
Streaming from DashBoard is all good and well, but it would be cool to learn method 1 as well.

There's 3 things I need to do as you mention above @troyenglish...
However I am kinda stuck on part 2... "-In XPressoin, create macros that implement the features you want."

I have never made a macro in Xpression, and I can find very little documentation on it (that and scripting in Xpression).
So could you possibly point me in the right direction?
    I need 3 "macroes" I suppose...

    • Start clock timer
    • Stop clock timer
    • Set clock timer to specific time

If you go to this forum post; or search for "widget" or "clock" and "script" in the xpression forum; you'll find lots of examples of how to use keyboard/gpi event scripts for controlling widgets:
