I am finding each time I down load a new version of 6.1 Beta I lose all links to my panel files even though I never change the paths. Is there anyway not to have this happen?

That doesn't generally happen. Are you running the Windows or OS X beta?

Are you installing the new DashBoard over top of the old one or are you removing the old DashBoard first?

I am running windows 7. I never tried to install over writing the old beta software. I tend to install with the same path but new. The reason just encase there is a problem I have something to fall back on. Next time i will install over but make a copy first.

Added note. I did an install on another computer and installed over the old beta version. All OK. Links all worked. However I had made a change in my main panel file that has all my links in it. I closed Dash Board and just wrote over the existing file. I did not change any links just one small graphic change. The next time I ran Dash Board all my links were gone.

On Windows, DashBoard Beta keeps its user data in [DashBoard installation folder (e.g. c:/DashBoard Beta)]/workspace

If you install DashBoard to a different folder and would like it to show you the same user data, you can copy the workspace folder to the new DashBoard installation folder.

I'm not sure what you mean by "links were gone" after saving a change to a custom panel. Are you talking about links in your file navigator view? Links in your basic tree view? Does the custom panel itself contain links? If so, to what?

In Edit mode you are able to make buttons that link to other Dash Board Panel files. If you make a change in a file that has these links and save it over the existing file you lose all your links. I have Dash Board running on three different computers. I made a change on one computer and then copied it over to the other computers, No links were changed Dash Board was not running. When done I started Dash Board and run my file that contained the links and that I had just copied. When Dash Board run all the Buttons that had links did not work. Going into edit mode I found the links were gone.

    Ah, okay.

If you look at the source tab in edit mode, is there still an objectid attribute on each node or is that gone too?

For example, a link on a CustomPanel I create might look like this:

There are 3 different lists to choose from when creating a link in DashBoard:

"File Navigator, All Connections, and Local File"

The most portable of these is "Local File". The least portable is "File Navigator". The reasons why are due to how DashBoard keeps track of what you're trying to reference. If you want to keep a group of several panels and easily jump between them, "Local File" is your best option.

If the objectid attribute is still in your link tag, can you send an example of what your objectid contains?
