Hi Everybody .. i have simple question...

We have Xpression studio without datalinq.

Can we control Xpression with Dashboard base on ID Number without Datalinq installed?

I'll control Xpression from another computer.

How much computer can controll the Xpression machine?

What do I need to do This?

Hi Gilar.

I'm not sure what you're looking to control in XPression but, without Datalinq, you'll pretty much be limited to what you can do through RossTalk commands.

RossTalk gives you the ability to load a template onto a specific layer, take a take ID on air with a given framebuffer and layer, take a template off air, clear a frame buffer, resume layers in a frame buffer, etc.

To fire these commands, simply create a new custom panel and add a button to it. Add a task to the button and select "RossTalk" as the task type. After you fill-in the HOST/PORT information, you should be able to select which command you want to send from the dropdown list, fill-in the values, and select "OK".

Unfortunately my office bought Xpression without datalinq.

Okay, best of luck to you. I know the example in that video depends very heavily on DataLinq to feed all of the text values to XPression.

It's sucsess to control Xpression on local host.

but when try dashboard from the other computer

Dashboard can't control Xpression Machine.

even i chang local host in to IP Adress.

Is it imposible to control Without Datalinq?

Do I miss something?

Hi Gilar,

You can send RossTalk Commands from a Remote PC just fine to the XPression -- This is identical to the way a production switcher like Carbonite or Acuity uses RossTalk to send these commands.

Can you send us a link to your (dropbox for example) XPression Project, DashBoard Custom Panel and maybe put a video in there showing us what your trying to accomplish with the custom panel?

Datalinq is required for updating Values, so for example trying to make a Score controller for sports where you need to have Clocks, Timers and other data values that you want an operator to control from the dashboard panel. Also if you want to be able to use a few templates but drive the data via DashBoard for Fullpages and stats.

However if your just trying to control the graphics that are already built and in the sequencer then you can do that just fine. Further if you do need Datalinq for added functionality to make your shows better this can always be added to the system in the field as the Datalinq option can be ordered standalone and you will get an added Dongle to plug into the XPression.

Sorry for late respon ...

We have an event wich need to 2 CG operator.

operator 1 is responsible to operate & Design template & Name Timer, Credit and another graphic.

operator 2 is responsible to "operate" subtitle Al-quran ayat only (operator not familiar with Xpression)

My plan is use 1 X-pression machine with 2 Controler. One on Xpression it self, onether one is in Laptop with dasboard interface. We play the xpression base on ID & Layer.

I have sucsessed to control Xpression on local host.

but when I try it on another PC it was failed.

(i have changed the HOST to IP adress)



is there another setting to fix it?

Hi Gilar.

The example you show in your screenshot is still using localhost as the host name.

It looks like you've changed the name of the connection but the value of the host field is still localhost.

If you look at the source for your *.grid file, you'll probably see something like this:

What it should be is:

192.168.1.101

7788

`

Note that you would also need to update your task to use the connection information called "XPression" in the example I just posted.

Sorry wrong picture ... but i m pretty sure i have change localhost into IP Adress.

I'll check it again & try tumorrow.... maybe I miss something, And I'll report here if I have successed.
