Hello, wondering if anyone had any information on transferring a created Dashboard button to the switcher.

We have installed some networked lights which can be triggered with a UDP string sent over network. I've created a button that will send UDP strings in Dashboard, but am wondering if i can transfer this action to the switcher so that the operator can trigger it. The idea is to have a video roll with the lights synced to it.

    Thanks

When you go to edit the button, there is a field called "Trigger" right above your button's task. If you put a number in there and enable DashBoard's "RossTalk GPI Listener" on an open port on your machine, you should be able to trigger the button press in DashBoard from Carbonite by adding DashBoard as a RossTalk device.

Sounds good, so the computer with dashboard needs to remain connected to the system when i want to use the button? Also how does the switcher need to be setup to interact with the id for the button.

If you want the switcher to trigger the button-press in DashBoard, then the computer will have to be on and the CustomPanel will have to be open.

The switcher has the option to add a new RossTalk device. You would input the DashBoard computer's IP and port and send the command "GPI WHAT_EVER_GPI_NUMBER_YOU_GAVE_YOUR BUTTON" to this RossTalk device.

It may also be possible to send the same command to your lighting panel directly from the switcher.

I would recommend posting to the switcher community page for the exact details for how to add the RossTalk device or how to possibly send the command directly to your lighting panel from the switcher.
