Using Dashboard with a Vision switcher. Dashboard ceased controlling switcher with no known changes made. Are there any known causes for this type of issue?

    Hi Ken.
I'm not aware of anything that would cause a DashBoard panel to stop working with absolutely no changes made.

    Things I would check:

    • Verify that you can still ping the IP address of the Vision switcher from the DashBoard computer
    • Verify that the Vision switcher still has a RossTalk-IN device configured and that the port hasn't changed (I'm assuming that you are using RossTalk commands to control the Vision)
    • Verify that no recent software updates have been done on the Vision switcher - these generally are OK but it is worth checking

    Hello Again James,

My Dashboard issue fell to the way side as Super Bowl hype overran the station. Still can't get Dashboard to talk Vision. I can ping the panel but not the frame. It is the panel IP address in configured in Dashboard, but I wasn't sure if the inability to ping the frame may be an issue. Also I believe our switcher did receive an upgrade in the past few months. Attached is a picture of the Ross Talk Configuration in the switcher.

    Hi Ken.
The screen shot you sent appears to show outgoing (client) RossTalk ports configured on the Switcher.
Do you have an incoming (server) RossTalk port configured?

See the "Acuity" section under https://www.rossvideo.com/pdf/cutsheets/carbonite-interface/RossTalk-Commands(4802DR-403-10).pdf
It would also apply to your Vision.

"‹Thank you. I think I understand now. It appears as thought the connection was broken when XPression was installed. The issue now is port availability. The one port that is available doesn't give me the option to select Ross Talk IN. Any ideas?

I can try to find out for you but you might find an answer to that part faster by posting to the Vision Switcher page on the forum:

You need a Panel Network Port to add RossTalk IN. If your out of Panel Ports then you can not add the RossTalk IN protocol.

Thank You, RTalk IN doesn't show up until after you change the port type to Network TCP. Makes sense. Thanks again! Dashboard back in business.
