Is there a way in Dashboard to create a countdown timer that can be overlayed through the On Air Control?

    Hi Peter.

Going to need to ask a few more questions from you.

When you're talking about the "On Air Control", are you talking about the MC1 UI?

When you say you want the timer overlayed, do you mean you want DashBoard to overlay a timer on your video output? Do you mean you want to show additional timers inside of the MC1 UI?

The more specific you can be in describing what you're trying to do, the more likely I'll be able to either help you (or, if it isn't something we can do, rule it out).

We are trying to overlay a timer over top of video for our speaker to see from his confidence monitor. My supervisor tells me we are using a MDK-111a-M. Not sure if that is the device you are looking for. We have been able to create a time clock that can be overlayed on top of our video, but we can't figure out how to create a countdown timer.

    Hi Peter.

How are you creating the time clock that you're currently using? Is it already in a DashBoard CustomPanel or are you using some other technique.

If you already have a panel started, if you send it here, I can show you how to adapt it to add a countdown timer.

We are getting the clock from a Ross Sync generator and then we are able to put that up in Key 1 as Timecode. We are wanting to do the same with a countdown clock, sending through a Key to be able to put over top of video.

    Hi Peter,

Regrettably this is not currently possible. Neither the MDK-111 nor the Ross Sync generator currently have the ability for a count-down clock. The existing timecode functionality only counts in the forward direction, and this cannot be controlled via DashBoard, and therefore not via CustomPanel. I would suggest that you write to the marketing manager (opengear@rossvideo.com) to add a request for this feature.

One thing you could do however is to create a stand-alone count-down timer in DashBoard, running in full-screen mode, with a black background. Then you would take the video output from the PC, and pass it though the HDMI-to-SDI converter, and feed it in as the external key on the MDK-111.

    Ralph.
