Hi Philip,
You can use RossTalk with your Vision switcher, this will give you access to creating custom panels that can change crosspoints, recall memories and very importantly, run Custom Controls. By running a Custom Control from your Custom Panel you can access almost every function of your Vision Switcher.
First you will need the Beta Version of DashBoard 6.0, you can download it here:
http://www.rossvideo.com/terminal-equipment/opengear/control-monitoring/dashboard-beta.html
To use RossTalk with your Vision Switcher you will need to install a 'RossTalk-In' port.
This can be found in the Vision communication port setup menus.
There is one small wrinkle to this. We made a small mistake in 16.1d. Our apologies. This will be fixed very soon in a subsequent Vision release.
The 'RossTalk-In' port may not be visible in the Communications setup menu in Vision. If when you go to install it you do not see under the RossTalk option 'RossTalk-In' then follow this procedure:
[Home] [Setup] [Installed Options] [More]. Double press the unlabeled [F4] button. Use the middle knob to scroll to RTalk-IN and use the bottom knob to toggle to Yes.
Once you have toggled it back to yes you should be able to see the RossTalkIn option in the communications setup menu.
If you are not familiar with how to use RossTalk the following manual should be of help:
http://www.rossvideo.com/software/dashboard/Beta/DashBoard_Release_Notes%206%202013_05_27_T15_XPression_V5.pdf
This is actually our manual on Connecting up XPression, the Ross Character Generator to DashBoard using Ross Talk, but, most everything is the same. (Except there is no DataLinq feature to Vision, and, the RossTalk commands in DashBoard for talking to Vision are at the end of the list in the DashBoard editor).
I hope this helps you get started.
If you need further assistance, please let us know and we'll be happy to help out.
Troy.
