For the XPression side of things, you'll want to post over on their community page to find out the minimum version of XPression that supports whatever commands you're trying to use. DashBoard uses RossTalk to do things like bring Take IDs on air. If you're talking about using DataLinq Server, you'll want to find out which version supports DashBoard DataLinq Connection though, if your version is too old, you could also use DataLinq's XML reader and use an "external XML data source" for your custom panel.
