    I'll just keep spamming :P

So, I'm working on a DashBoard that will work together with a Carbonite Solo One, Xpression, and QLab (through AppleScript). And so far, I have them triggering just as I want to be honest. Really impressed with DashBoard and how I get all the parts to actually work and time in synch!

Now.. For the next part, I allready have Xpression reading from an Excel (.xslx) datasheet through DataLink. Now I would very much like to be able to use the same excel datasheet to populate a dropdown in DashBoard. Is there any intergrated way in DashBoard to read Excel sheets?

Would make my work a whole lot easier if I could just read the same excel datasheets instead of having to maintain an extra xml file next to it. As I could just update the excel file and voila...

DashBoard does not read from Excel directly... It can, however, read XML.

You can use Excel's tools to create a well-formatted XML document out of your spreadsheet. Once you take the time hit to define the schema, you can reuse it again and again on the same (or similar) documents.

You can learn more about this feature here:

Yeah I am aware of that one... I was just hoping I could put someone NOT too technical behind the controls and let them just update a simple excel sheet.
Ok, well! Gotta make do with what I got! Thanks again!

I can only state that this does not work. I am familiar with the XML formatter from Excel, and while it sounds like a dream come true, it fails.

Following the tutorials and the steps provided in the link above, I get an error message when trying to run the process in Visual Basics.
Though the error is not what is defined in the steps in the link. The error message is the following:

    [QUOTE]Compile error:

    User-defined type not defined

Fine... So, try to go through "Tools -> References" to set. It is greyed out. So let's do the "Run -> Reset".
Ok, now "Tools -> References" is no longer greyed out, but it comes along with a password prompt set by the xml generator from excel. Basically, you're stuck.

No, this isnt any fault of ROSS, or anything I expect anyone here to know the answer to, but it's an update.

I have only used it once or twice myself but do know that it has been successfully used by other DashBoard users on a variety of projects. Getting the initial export working with a schema is sometimes a little tricky and the feedback when trying to create it is sometimes less than helpful...

Well, I can only speak for myself. However!!!

Turns out after some further researching, the XML exporter add-in for Excel referred to above was made for Excel 2003.

However, if you have the current version (as in Excel 2016), it has a built in XML export in the developer tab (make sure to show it).
A short and simple example/tutorial can be found here:
