Are you talking about XPression Clips or the XPression Studio Sequencer? Do you want to know the total length of media clips, or the remaining duration of a playing XPression Take items (the "duration" column int he sequence view of Studio?

For the first one, you would have to use VDCP. For the second one, you can use the XP plugin. Let me know which you want, and I'll cook up a quick example.

I'm still unsure if you are trying to get the clip length, or the take item duration. Can you take a screenshot of your screen, and highlight the field you are trying to access in XPression from DashBoard? If you're using Windows, you can use the Snipping Tool built into Windows to do this.

    Thanks.

I'm not the OP, but may I request an example with the time remaining from the clip player (counting down as the clip plays out?)

This would be handy as we cannot get the clip player to reliably/consistently send the time remaining to our Acuity switcher for multiple technical reasons (a ticket was opened but no solution was found). This would of course be the preferred solution.

You can get that value using VDCP commands.

The attached panel has 2 buttons. One will play a clip via VDCP, the other one gets the clip time and outputs it to the debug console in the following format:

    16:00:49:138: American Football - 5375

    16:00:49:144: 7166

    16:00:49:153: 0:0:7:5

    16:00:49:158: 5799

    16:00:49:163: 0:0:5:24

The first one is the clip name, the second is the clip duration, the 3rd is the clip duration as a string, the 4th is the current position, and the last is the current position as a string.

I also added a timer that runs every 150 milliseconds and updates 3 parameters in the panel with the current clip, duration, and current position.

This assumes that your clip player is on "localhost" on port 9091. You can see the port in your XPression Media Control Gateway.

Does anybody have a copy of this VDCP time remaining grid file? I can't seem to download it any more. Thanks!
