Does the folder /Users/[USERNAME]/.eclipse/org.eclipse.platform_3.8_1234140297 exist? Does it have any *.log files in it?
When DashBoard is unable to launch on Mac OSX it is most frequently an inability for the application to write data to /Library/Application Support/openGear/DashBoard
You may want to verify that you have write permissions inside of that folder with your account - we typically assign ownership to root and read/write permissions to the 'staff' group. You'll also want to verify that there is a ".metadata" folder inside of there (or that you can create one). Note that since it starts with a dot, this will be hidden in your command prompt/finder unless you are using ls -la to list all files.
