  • 1.  Dashboard command to configure Carbonite Tally Output

    Posted 12-28-2019 16:01

    Hi,

I've tried asking this in the Carbonite thread and not had any response, so I'm trying again here:

I was wondering if there was anyway of configuring the Carbonite Tally Outputs from within a dashboard script?

I know that I can use the Dashboard 'Panel' interface to do it, but I would like to automate it to follow some router Outputs.

I have some monitors that take GPI Tallies, and have wired them up to the Mixer, and that part works fine. I also have scripts that follow and lookup tally information between the mixer, matrix and some Monitors that take IP tallies, so the heavy work is done.

I'm hoping for something similar to the following, but I've not found anything.

Rosstalk: TALLY 5:15:OnAir (set tally OP 5, to Physical IP 15, while OnAir)

    or

    params.setParam("Carbonite", 'Tally', 5, 15, OnAir)

I have found something that says 'IPE 1000 TSL Tally Mode 0x1AAB' in the visual editor, but I don't know if that is anything of use.

Is there anything like this? or any way I can achieve this?

    Many Thanks

    James

    Hi James

The Carbonite forum would definitely be your best bet for posting this. I don't believe the RossTalk command you've described exists (though the team over there would know for certain). As for using the parameters exposed to DashBoard, there may be a path there - we typically would use the parameter inspector (CTRL+i) to help look-up any OIDs we want to reference. That said, the parameters used in the virtual panel are often a bit different in that they are designed to mimic physical buttons on a switcher panel instead of representing the state of the switcher itself.

If you don't have any luck, I can take your question to the Carbonite team once the teams are back in the office at the beginning of the new year.

    Cheers and good luck!

    James

    Hi James,

Thank you for posting back. I've still had no response in the Carbonite forum. I've given the Parameter Inspector a go, and as suspected, they don't show much useful inside the Virtual Panel.

The Panel Editor also doesn't do anything in either the Virtual Panel, or the Carbonite Configuration Page.

If it's any easier to do it using the GPIO outputs rather than the Tally Outputs then I can probably do that, but as far as I can see the Rosstalk Commands can only be used to duplicate a GPI Input, there's nothing about Controlling/Triggering Outputs.

If you can pass this over to the Carbonite Team to look into when they're back that'd be great.

    Many Thanks

    James

    Hi James,

I'm just wondering if you'd had a chance to take my question to the Carbonite team, as they've still not responded to the query I put in the Carbonite Section.

    Cheers

    James

No it is not possible to control the configuration of the Tally System via RossTalk.  Nor can you control it via DashBoard as it is currently on configurable via the Panel interface.

There is no OIDs for these.

    Hi Les,

Thank you for responding. As the Dashboard Panel interface is communicating with the panel over IP, there must be a way of doing it. A quick look at wireshark shows that when you make a change it is posting to /meta/bayeux, containing a json array with a ping command in it, along with a time, id and clientId. I'm assuming the clientId is the data payload and contains the instruction to change the tally.

Is there any documentation at all on how this works?

    Many Thanks

    James

    Hi James,

The Tally configuration is not part of data that is shared or accessed from DashBoard.  The DashBoard protocol is called OGP.  All the parameters that you modify data with are called OIDs.  You can request to sign up as a DashBoard Connect partner to get access to documentation on how the protocol works and go from there if you like....

However at this time DashBoard does not have access to the TALLY Configuration because we do not have that data connected to the OGP layer.  It is only accessible via the "panel" application and when no panel is available there is the "menu simulator" that is available in the DashBoard Control Panel.

The dev group is always adding more and more into the releases so that at some point it will all be accessible via OGP...Thus making things like Visual Logic have access to all of the capabilities.
