  • 1.  StreamDeck RossTalk plugin to DashBoard - no longer working?

    Posted 11-19-2019 20:34

    Hi there!

So, I have a StreamDeck (two actually), and I used to use the Xpression plugin, now I've also downloaded the one for carbonite/ultrix/etc...

Earlier, I just used the "localhost" on ip, and then chose the command GPI, in the command to send I put "GPI test1". And in DashBoard I also had a button with the trigger id "test1". So, earlier I KNOW this used to work, and I'm tempted to say it worked in the last version of DashBoard. And yes, I have set DashBoard to listen to GPI triggers on the same port the StreamDeck plugin is trying to send to.

Now I know they're not ment to talk to DashBoard, as they're made for Xpression/Carbonite/etc etc, but I had a completly working version of this, and now for some reason, nope...

    Clues? Hints? Tips?

I have DashBoard 8.7 running the listener on 7789 as my test system is an XPression running it's RossTalk on 7788.

    I am using Streamdeck 4.4.1.12187.

I am using the RossTalk Switcher Plugin and using the GPI command.

I used the same syntax -- GPI test1

Made a button in DashBoard that will send a command to XPression....That takes a scene online..This allowed me to test that the Button did something.

I added the text to the trigger id of the button --- test1

I press the button on the Stream Deck....The Button in DashBoard fires and then that makes the XPression Graphic come on.

    Everything is working as intended.

Yeah, if I make a new Dashboard and start from scratch, it's working just fine. However, older Dashboards (set up the same way) does not seem to react at all... Hmmm...

Will continue to see if I can find the reason why this happens. Seeing as it works for one DB on the same computer, but not the other, I'm thinking the problem lies within the individual DB...

When you say one dashboard to the next. Do you mean one version of dashboard software or are you referring to different Custom Panels on the same version of DashBoard software?

Do you have have multiple custom panels open that have the same GPI trigger ID assignments? If so then they are all going to be triggering from that global listener command.

I'm refering to same software version, but different panels/grid files.

So I'm fairly certain the issue is in the actual custom Dashboard now. Just that I've got no clue as to what could be causing it.

If you have an example of a working and non-working panel that you'd like to send over, we may be able to take a look and see what the difference is.

Well, I found the culprit... I honestly have no idea how it got there, and I really cant remember placing it there myself...
But in the top <abs> I found a parameter named "gpiport = 7791"...

    <abs contexttype="opengear" dblinqport="2222" gpiport="7791" gridsize="10" id="_top" keepalive="true" scroll="true">

I honestly cant remember putting it there myself, but removing it and just using the port 7791 and have DashBoard itself listen to that port worked just fine.
Now I've been working with this DashBoard for years now, so I might've put it there for all I can remember. But I swear to whatever diety you follow, this was working just fine 31st of October, as that was a live hockey game.
However, it did not work the next home game, wich was 16th of November.

Between those two dates, the only thing changing was the IP of the computer (StreamDeck was still set to send to localhost, so should not mean anything), and DashBoard was updated to 8.7.1...
