Hi again folks...

Not sure what this could be because of...
I've had several occasions now where DashBoard wont drop focus when trying to enter another software.
Say I've done something in DashBoard, and I try to alt-tab to another program, the software blinks, but DashBoard comes back in and steals the focus.

I've added a debug output to each and every for-loop I have to make sure I'm not stuck in a loop etc anywhere, and that aint it. I've added a debut to anything that might be triggered by something external as well, and nothing....

I've tried to wrap my head around what might cause this, and I just cant think of anything more.

Anyone got a clue?

We are aware of the issue and do not have an immediate solution with our current user interface framework. It can sometimes happen when trying to make sure the device/Custom Panel tabs are active in the application.

I'll be happy to update you if we develop a fix for the issue. Until then, a restart of the application or a reboot often seems to resolve the issue. If you have a specific set of applications/steps that is always able to trigger the issue for you, please pass that information along as it may help our investigation.

Ok, that's nice to know! Thanks again James, and I will let you know if I can somehow see a pattern to this.

Just wanted to add that we too are experiencing this issue.  Our graphics guy struggled to get back to XPression Studio to run Take IDs cause he would have to click about 5 times on XPression Studio window to grab focus from Dashboard if he was in Dashboard before switching back to XPression Studio.

Just wanted to try and refresh this thread.  I use a two monitor setup with dashboard and Xpression.  I find that dashboard will grab focus back randomly and when it does, Xpression lock up similar to what Eddie described.  Whenever I attempt to go back to Xpression Studio, it will usually lock up for 1-2 mins before allowing me to click inside of Xpression.

What is your overall system memory usage? How much memory do you have on your machine? There is an issue with DashBoard requesting focus after trying to switch to another application but what you are describing appears to be something different (taking a long time to switch between apps instead of apps holding focus longer than they should).

For those who are experiencing a focus issue, we will try to notify this thread when there is a solution to the issue available.

Thanks for the update.  We don't see the 1-2 minute issue that Kelsey describes.  It is more like this:  

• Use Dashboard however you like in order to have focus on Dashboard
• Alt+Tab, or click on another app (Chrome, Explorer, XPression Studio, etc.) that is also running
• You have to click several times on the other app in order to get Dashboard to release focus

*  This seems to happen in both multiple monitors or a single monitor for us
*  This is particularly an issue when running with multiple monitors.  The graphics operator typically will go from Dashboard to XPression Studio and enter a take ID with the number pad.  Most times, XPression Studio (since it doesn't have focus) won't run the Take ID until you click several times on the XPression Studio window to take over focus from Dashboard.

James, it will be most helpful to update this thread on the release of a new Dashboard.  Thanks so much!

Just as an update... We were hoping that the new version of Dashboard v 8.7.1 might resolve this issue, but we are still experiencing it.

DashBoard 8.8 has some work in it to address this issue. The release will be made widely available later this month but you are welcome to download it now to see if it resolves your issue.

Sounds great James!
I'll give it a whirl, but without a changelog or patch notes, is there anything else we should know about this New version that could affect current dashbaords in use? New functions, other small bugs, etc?

Improvement to the PIvot Camera Control DashBoard, RGBA output of color pickers AND hopefully fix some of this! I like it! :D
