Long time XPression integrator, relatively new Dashboard programmer here.  I'm trying to figure out how to use keyboard combos to trigger buttons on the Dashboard custom panel.

I've followed every guide, created GPI triggers for the keyboard combos in the preferences keyboard combo section of Dashboard (I'm using one digit numbers as my GPI data), set them in the "Trigger ID" section of the button.  But nothing is triggering.

I feel like I'm missing some big fundamental setting or step.  Hoping someone smarter can enlighten me to this magical setting I've got wrong.

You seem to be close and I am not exactly sure what you are missing. So, what i can do is tell you how I did it and maybe you can pattern-match off of what i did.

So, in dashboard I created a button, gave it the name hello and a trigger id of hello as well

and then i added a task that does an ogscript.debug("triggered hello button");

then i went into the window settings on dashboard and under the keyboard shortcuts I created a new command in this window and gave the shortcut "1" and had it fire a gpi trigger "hello". So when i press 1 i will have it debug the previous line in the debug output in DashBoard.

and in the debugger on the right side it does the debug.

Thats how I did it I hope that helps in getting you started. If not send me more details on what you are trying to do and maybe I can help you out more.

Thanks for the debug suggestion!!  That helped me pinpoint that my issue was that somehow the GPIs weren't being read by the dashboard panel. 

I ended up making a new panel (using a different preset.  Not the XPression preset that I normally start with, but with the Production/Config template and it was set up and working with GPI listening by default (I still can't figure out why the other panel isn't reading GPIs.  Nothing appears to be different in the script settings. 

Anyways, thanks for the debug and the walkthrough!  Got it working in the end.

It should work just fine with the blank preset(My mini guide was created with one). It might be the case that you are using different gpi trigger listeners(http and vdcp) at the same time and we have a bug related to that were using both breaks gpi listeners so that could be the cause of the issue. If you send me a screenshot of your panel in panelbuilder mode I can tell you whether that is the case.

If the listeners in the "remote task triggering" section are empty then the keyboard combos/shortcuts should work just fine so i would check that first.
