  • 1.  Dashboard Should Support Excel like XPression does

    Posted 01-06-2020 20:09

So I'm a graphics guy. I'm pretty good with logic, and I can do some basic code, but the amount of coding required to get data in or out of Dashboard is still really twisting my brain around.

I would love to put in an official feature request for Dashboard to handle Excel the way XPression/Datalinq does. Just a simple browse of cells and linking back and forth would be SO much easier and faster for people to be more useful. I know it's a huge ask, but I think it would really benefit the product.

I'll keep asking questions in the meantime, but I wanted to get this down on record somewhere. Still loving the software otherwise, but getting XML/CSV data in or out, despite reading all the tutorials already on here, is still something I haven't been able to do. I know I will, eventually, but Ross already has a better workflow for this in their other softwares.

    Hi Dan

I can pass this along to be added to our feature request database.

    Thanks

    Hi Dan!

Thanks so much for the great idea. I manage a list of prioritized DashBoard features here at Ross and will be adding it to our list, as James suggested. We're working on a new release right now, but it's already filled with features, so I won't be able to give you a date for when this will be available.

Thanks for all the great questions and screenshots you've been posting. It's great for us to see the work our customers are doing.

Thanks, James and Amanda. I still haven't given up on either XML or CSV, but it never hurts for all the products to match as much as possible, right? Learning how to do it right is still a good goal though! And James, I appreciate all your help over and over and over!

    I second this notion...
I've done the XML, CSV and JSON way of importing in DashBoard, but in many many cases this will be used towards Xpression as well, and there you usually want to use DataLinq.
So, a DataLinq intergration of parameters into DashBoard, ohhh my would it ever make our lives easier...

I didn't even think of straight DataLinq support, that's even better than native Excel!!
