Facility Control

So I have been unable to open Dashboard without it freezing the last couple of days.

When I remove, or rename the "workbench.xml" file, it opens fine, but when re-opening it will freeze again. Very frustrating.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? Could it be my workspace, or a Windows issue?

FYI, it was doing this for both 8.7, and 8.8

I have not heard of this happening for others.   

What operating system?  Are you connecting to any devices?   Would you be willing to share your workbench.xml file?

Before you share the file, let's get a few more details.

1. The links you shared are issues on MacOS.   Are you on Mac, or on Windows?

2. What has changed in the past few days?   Do you have new panels, new devices, other software running?   Have you made changes to your layout?

3. Have you tried installing DB into a different folder (like c:/DashBoardAlternate).

1. Windows 10, version 1903

2. I had made a new panel to test reading JSON files

That's really the only different thing that occured.

3. Since it was happening in 8.7, I thought a fresh install with ver 8.8 would help. I first uninstalled it, then moved the left over directory - So it's installed in the same folder, but none of the previously existing Dashboard files were in the same directory. That seemed to work, but after about an hour (during which I was not working on the computer at all), I tried to re-open Dashboard and same freeze.

Does it freeze only when specific panels are open?   Or does it freeze even if no panels are opened at all? 

If I rename the "workbench.xml" file, it opens fine. I've tried opening panels 1-by-1 and closing/restarting to see if I can find if there is something wrong with a specific panel, but it seems random. It's frozen after closing/restarting with certain panels open, but after I rename the "workbench.xml" file, that same panel won't cause a problem. Eventually though, it will freeze when starting up.

If you run Dashboard from the command line, you can give it the -console option.   You could then look in the console to see if any errors are occuring on startup.

Use the Windows "cmd" command to start the command line tool, then type the following (using the right install directory instead of DashBoard8.8)
