  • 1.  Dashboard Update Question

    Posted 07-30-2020 18:41

We haven't updated Dashboard since we got it about 4 years ago and it is working pretty well for us, but there have been several updates since and now we do to explore the new features that have been released since. We are at version 8.1.2 and the current non Beta version is 9.1.

My question is can we install 9.1 and still have 8.1.2 available and functional, or does the update replace the previous version? Not to insult anyone at Ross Video at all, I know some programs will leave previous versions intact while others overwrite with the new version. I also know sometimes upgrades can sometimes cause some unexpected surprises that require some tweaking to get things back to our working environment or establishing new ones for new unexpected features that require new procedures. If this would happen here, I would want our old version available until I had the new version all in place the way we needed it. Make sense?

    Hi Marty,

You can install DashBoard 9.1 in a separate folder.   Just make sure that during the installation, you specify a different folder than c:/DashBoard  (something like c;/DashBoard9_0/)

If you want to make sure you don't lose your 8.1.2, then make a backup of the c:/DashBoard folder before you begin the installation (assuming that is where you installed DashBoard the last time).

I have several versions of DashBoard installed on my computer for backward compatibility test purposes.

DB9.0 and up has a new look to it.   It's called the Aura theme (which in my opinion looks great!).   If you want to go back to the old look you can switch to the Classic theme in preferences, under General.
