We are looking to control our projectors via Dashboard. They are Christie HD14KM. All we really want to do is power on and off from our control room. I asked Christie and all the could tell me was "we can't comment on control from a 3rd party" and sent me the technical reference for RS232 commands. Is it possible to control these directly from dashboard using TCP/UDP controls? Or am I stuck having to convert to RS232?

Has anyone ever done something like this?

    Hi Chance

It would be up to Christie to tell you what their control protocols are. If they give you one that is accessible via TCP/IP, UDP, or REST you will find it a little easier since you can speak those directly from within DashBoard.  If you only have access to RS232, your best bet is to use either a hardware appliance (like a Moxa Box) or a piece of software to expose the serial port to DashBoard as either TCP/IP or UDP port - you would then just send the bytes for the serial messages over that network port.

    Cheers

    Hello Chance,

I haven't done it with Dashboard but you could try those commands on TCP Port 3002:

(PWR 1)$0D to power on and (PWR 0)$0D to power off.

It's working just fine with other software to send those command so I'm confident this could also work with Dashboard.

    Thank
