• 1. Status dot from parameter?

    I have status dots in a panel I have created to show connectivity staus to the local Xpression and Carbonite. As I will be deploying this panel to multiple systems, I have used parameters to hold the IP addresses of the various pieces of equipment to provide an easy way to change the panel in each deployment. Status dots when dragged from the equipmnet tree however are either directly linked to the device IP or mac address, and I have not found a way to have the statuscombo take the address information directly from a variable, as the objectid section is expecting the device address to immediately follow in quotations.

    Is there a way to accomplish this? I was looking for something like:

    <treeElement name ="Carbonite" objectid=params.getValue('Carbonite_Address', 0) />

    My ultimate goal is avoid any 'hard' coded references to equipment.

    Hi Dave

    You're very close! Here is the necessary code:

    <treeElement name="Carbonite" objectid="%value['Carbonite_Address'][0]%:5253
Slot 0
Carbonite"/>

    Cheers

    Yes - thank you for this! I assume the same is likely true for elements from the Carbonite control panel, using the device ID mac address as the source, so I will do that as well.

    Hi Dave

    Yes, you can use this technique to substitute any part of the device's identifier.

    You should be able to use IP:PORT instead of the Mac address for any openGear Protocol (OGP) device though - even if it was added by using the "Detect" button or our automatic discovery.
