Has anyone had any luck connecting to Sony BRC-X1000 through Dashboard? In Dashboard I click on 'Add New Connection' I add the IP address and leave the Display Name, Slot, and Port (7800), and click 'Finish'. Sony Cameras show up in the tree view with a green dot. I open it to find Slot 1: Device with a green dot, and within that is Remote Control. I am unable to open Remote Control or do anything to control the camera.

    Any help is appreciated!

I have you had any luck with this, currently in the same situation with a SONY SRG-300

    Cheers

    Hi Kevin and Tom,

Thanks for query and sorry for the late reply.

There is a different way to add a camera and below are the detailed steps.

    1.  Open up your DashBoard
    2.  Click green plus button to add connections.
    3.  Select the option Camera Control < PTZ Camera  and Click Next
    4.  Add Camera IP address and Select your camera model Sony BRC-H900 and leave everything else default values
    5. Click Finish button.
    6.  Now you have got the connection under the tree and Select Remote Control under the tree
    7.  It will prompted for a License.

So, you have to buy the license in order to use the Camera Control through DashBoard.

I wish to clarify Anand's response to account for the timelines in this post.

DashBoard 8.7.1, released October 2019, adds native support for PTZ and paint control of SONY BRC-X1000 and SONY BRC-H900 cameras. This licensed functionality can be accessed by adding the BRC camera through the File > New > Other ... wizard, and selecting Camera Control > "PTZ Camera" for a device type. The "PTZ Camera" functionality uses IP VISCA protocol exclusively. What I mean by "native support" is that the SONY Custom Panel is no longer required; rather the functionality is built into DashBoard.

The SRG-300 camera supports regular VISCA protocol over serial, but does not appear to support IP VISCA protocol, thus it will not work with the "PTZ Camera" functionality in DashBoard 8.7.1.

To use "PTZ Camera" with supported SONY PTZ cameras requires the "Sony BRC Camera Control" license.

DashBoard versions prior to 8.7.1 only offered the "Sony Camera" device type.  That device type, now renamed "SONY ENG/Box Camera" in 8.7.1, can only be used to paint SONY cameras through the use of a SONY CNA-1 protocol adapter. PTZF control is not offered in the 'Sony Camera' plugin.

To use "Sony Camera" with supported SONY cameras (via CNA-1) requires the "Sony SSP Camera Control" license.
