Is there a way our 3play operator can send completed video packages directly to the blackstorm in order for the TD to play them during a show?

If you have a 3Play 4800 you can use the publish tools to do a file copy across the network.

Lara, thank you for the information.

We are doing live sporting events. In your opinion, when sending a playlist to the blackstorm, would it be best to do auto copy or auto FTP in the 3play options?

Can not believe I read yet another manual (lol)

I am the TD -- and I am trying to make it easier for the 3play operator. What I am trying to accomplish is for him to make packages on players then send them to me and I can play them to air via the blackstorm while he continues building packages and replays.

Also do you think this would slow down the operator or speed up the work flow?

Thank you again for you input and knowledge.

    Sincerly,

    Gordon

I would just use the file copy feature, no reason to add a layer with FTP. I guess it depends on the Operator and sport whether or not it would be easier.

Major issue here is requirement to Transcode as well.

Don't think you have native DVCPROHD on the 3Play. The Mira can be ordered as Native DVCProHD so it would be able to melt to the BVS and transfer those clips over the network.

    HI Les,

The great thing about 3Play is that it plays back a ton of different file formats natively. I use DVCPRO HD from my Blackstorm all the time with no Transcoding.

Yes BlackStorm is DVCPRO HD MOV native. I was just stating I am not sure if the 3Play records native in that format or if it has to be exported out to that format-- which would make the workflow more of an issue than just playing it back from the 3Play to begin with.
