  • 1.  Lost Media Player audio output

    Posted 03-08-2014 03:06
After upgrading to ver 8.0 on the Carbonite and also adding in a blackstorm server into the mix about a week ago I now have NO AUDIO from the media players. I use AUX 5 to send the audio signals to a de-embeder. Before adding the blackstorm and doing the upgrade, the media players worked fine playing TGA files along with the associated (wav) files of each sequence.

So, my question is WHY can I not hear the audio from the media players anymore? When I select the blackstorm into aux 5 I hear audio, when I put the media player(s) there I do not. I have tried all four media players in AUX 5.

NOTE ---- The (wav) file is the same name as the (TGA) file names and in the same folder, and keep in mind the audio did work from the media players from July up until last week. Nothing has changed except the addition of the blackstorm and the upgrade to the switcher.

I have stump technical support when I called them. Has anyone else run into this, and if so how did you correct it?

    Hi Gordon,

Double Check that in the system menu the ANC source is not set to STRP.

Also note that you could now use the MV to feed the de-embedder and set it to M2MW. That way it will track your ME 2 MW source (in version 7.3 we allowed you to delegate which Media stores you were using for the wipe). All of this can be recorded in the wipe as well.

I just use version 8 at a seminar this past week in Taipei and we were feeding the Audio out of the MV to the monitor and the audio was working. I did find that that system was set to STRP not set to Pass. Not sure if there is a settings issue that my have been reset on the upgrade.

I have checked several times and the setting is set to N Pass.

The AUX 5 feeding the de-embedder is doing the same as if using the MV to feed the de-embedder

    Hi Gordon,

Correct we made changes to the audio embedding in the system. You need to move the embedder to the MV outputs.

You can still program the audio embed changes in your custom controls however you need to source the video from the MV outputs.

First and foremost I want to thank Jeremy Bourque, Technical Support Specialist at Ross and also Les in getting the media player(s) audio back into the mix.

For those that have had the same issue of trying to have audio from the media players and also from external devices such as the blackstorm or fast forward here is the breakdown on how to achieve hearing the audio.

Make M1 (media player 1) the AncScr for MV1 (multi-viewer 1) AND M2 (media player 2) the AncScr for MV2 (multi-viewer 2). Make your custom control target the MV1 (media player 1 audio) or MV2 (media player 2 audio) in order to send your de-embedder the desired media player audio signal.

I use Output 5 which is my (Aux 5) to send the audio signals to the de-embedder, here is an example of a typical custom control I use.

    Aux 5 (sends audio out to de-embedder / aja) "“ MV1, MV2, FF1, FF2, Blackstorm 1/2

    ME2 Key4 "“ State OFF

    ME2 Key4 - M1, M2, FF1, FF2, Blackstorm 1/2 (selects key input I change this a lot)

Cue (GPI cue FF, Load TGA if Media Player, Cue file if Blackstorm)

Pause 3 frames "“ (time delay for all devices to think)

    Play (cued item)

    ME2 Key4 "“ State ON

    Pause (amount before under cut)

    Cut

Pause (amount of frames the effect takes to finish the move)

    ME2 Key4 "“ State OFF

Aux 5 (sends audio out to de-embedder / aja) "“ BLACK (ie... mute)

    ME2 Key4 (select source "“ telestrator)

    ME2 Key4 "“ State ON
