    Hello all

Is there any plan or solution/translation for interfacing with outboard gear such as a lance controller to support P-Bus protocol's? Not having the P-Bus option is proving to be very problematic trying to integrate a spot box or clip player. Thanks.

    Hi Josh,

No we do not support PBus. We do support AMP which allows us to talk natively over IP to servers. There is no near future plan to add PBus.

Thanks for the quick response. That is a bummer to hear. The AMP is something I will look into but I'm guessing I will still have the issue of how do I interface with the controller to utilize recall's and control of the server and clips. Has anyone else had any luck with this to your knowledge?

I have no information about anyone using Carbonite to send triggers to the Lance only direct interfacing to the servers themselves.

Are you still having to clip off entire effects tapes? Not getting clip based effects load ins? that does make it harder for sure.

Yes. As a vendor we try to have our elements from our clients ready to go on our shows. Often people will walk in with content on tape, separate alpha and fill in separate clips and we need to accommodate this. We need the TD to be able to work with tape to ingest, sync and build effects and opens with these key-able elements. The issue we have with RossTalk and Blackstorm is that it's not an ingest server so it defeats the purpose. Does Ross have any solution or offer a blackstorm unit with key/fill output and ingest? Thanks.

Well the BlackStorm does do Key/Fill Playout but there is no ingest. I am not aware of any near term roadmap that adds this feature to it.

I guess Ingesting and compositing in AE using a SDI-thunderbolt is probably also to time consuming.

So did some searching and came across this

    http://www.dnfcontrols.com/products/product_info.php?cPath=28_33&products_id=92&osCsid=pgl12c55vkur3rfn3jeqvqtic5

Based on what the description says you could use this box to accept RossTalk Commands over ethernet and then convert them to PBus to send to the lance over serial.

RossTalk could allow you to send different commands to be interpreted as Recall Triggers and another as say the trigger commands.

You could use the SEQI:0000 to be the recall string and the GPI 0 as the trigger string.

PBus is HEX in Readable ASCII so you could use that to convert to the R and T commands for your registers on the lance. Would take a bit of work to enter in all of your events to the box, but once done you would only need to change your Custom Controls and then your Lance registers since you would make the protocol conversion a 1 to 1 relationship.

    Josh:

We send a GPI trigger(s) to the lance, in order to control the fast forward. The typical play, stop, advance/recall the 000s, 100s, 200s registers, recue and loop functions.

We use the fast forward because we fill up the media players quickly with TGA sequences for transitions, replay in / out effects for the shows we do. The fast forward is mainly used for those long :07 to :10 cappers and rejoins and those "we have to have these transitions" that are never used in the shows.
