  • 1.  Clearing media numbers

    Posted 02-01-2012 10:17
    Hello,

I assume that when I am loading graphics from USB the Carbonite will generate the specific media number for that image. It seems that even when I am taking my USB out of the system those media numbers are still there. So my question is what is te easiest way to change the media number. I am not able to change the media number if that number is already reserved to some other still/animation so there is no way to overwrite. I can only change it to number that is free. Correct?

Can I still clear those numbers somehow? Using reset or some other function?

    Regards,

    Mikko Leino

    Hi Mikko,

if you have deleted the media item from the usb then you can call up that number (using the keypad entry method) when the system tries to load it the media store will recognize that it is gone and allow you to "free up" that entry number for use with a new media item.

Further if you want to make it even easier you can delete the MediaDatabase file that is on the USB. This will trigger it to start from scratch completely the next time you plug in the usb drive. Just make sure that the computer you plug it into has View all files set. The MediaDatabase is set as a hidden file (has a period in front of the name).

    Hi,

I'm trying to delete this .xml file using FTP. It seems like the file is re-generated again with the old data when I assign a new media number to some other still/animation. Only way to permanently clear the MediaDatabase seems to be to unplug completely USB-storage and delete the .xml file.

I would request a feature that we could clear the database using the web-gui interface and wouldn't have to:

    1) unplug usb

    2) remove .xml

    3) re-plug usb

    over and over again...

    Thanks for the feedback.

We have added your request to the database. We will see where we can fit it in.
