Last week, we changed out the switcher head of the 2MLE Carbonite. The only setting that I changed was turning the "follow" to OFF. I run the switcher with MLE1 on top and MLE2 as a pgm/pvw bank. While I was setting up the show, (and waiting for the 150 frame TGA sequence to load for a transition), I left to use the restroom, when I returned the MLE SELECT was no longer in the state that I left it (MLE2) it jumped to (MLE1). Of course I chalked it up to someone messing with the switcher while I was gone, but no one did.

Last night DURING PRE-PRO FOR A SHOW this occurred again. I was not technical directing, however, the technical director I had was not even touching the switcher at the time this occurred. He and I were talking about I had setup his switcher.

Is there a setting somewhere I need to check? The switcher get powered down after every event since it is in a mobile tv truck. It has happened while both connected to shore power and generator power. I am at a loss, any thoughts?

Couple of questions Gordon, did anyone notice a disturbance in the video outputs?

You mention you changed the head - I assume you are referring to the control panel. Is the panel very far from the frame and are you using a fully shielded cat5 cable for the interconnect?

    Nigel, answers to your questions:

Did anyone notice a disturbance in the video outputs? NO

I assume you are referring to the control panel. YES

Is the panel very far from the frame? NO about 20 feet

Are you using a fully shielded cat5 cable for the interconnect? YES - Same CAT5 used for both control heads I am referring too.

NOTE- I did not see this issue before we switched out the head. However the old control head on MLE1 the bulbs were not illuminated for the first six on all rows of lights including the type of key delegation buttons. Changing the head I can now see what I selected but we have this new issue.

Are you sure there is no macro that might have a delegation to the MLE on it by mistake?

If your not using a "colour" scheme try changing that to Island or Neon. That way the Rows have different colours and if this happens you will see it switch more obviously. Then try all your Macros again.

NOTHING is being done. Hands, fingers and toes are not even touching the switcher. It just selects MLE1 instead of MLE2 on the bottom bank. #13 on the attached image

Hunh -- that is not good. there is a device test under system. you could go into it and do the button test. Press a different button than the MLE 1 SEL button.

Then just leave it and see if it changes to that button -- would make me think it be a flaky button then.
